AGT VIRTUAL OPEN CALL FAQ

Registration & Check-In

Is my arrival time my audition time? No. Arrival times help manage the crowd, but auditions are first-come, first-seen.

Can I still audition if I didn't register for an In-Person Open Call? Absolutely! Walk-ins are welcome, though online registration is recommended for faster paperwork and updates.

I can’t make my scheduled In-Person Open Call. What now? No worries! You can submit a Video Audition or register for a Virtual Open Call.

I am registered but want to change my information. Simply sign in to your Performer Profile to update audition or personal details.

I was emailed a ticket but can't find it. Do I need to bring it? It is recommended but not mandatory. You can show it on your phone, print a new copy from your Performer Profile, or provide your Contestant ID at the door.

Groups & Multi-Acts

I am part of a group, how do I register? Only one member should register. This ensures your group has a single profile and receives one ticket for the entire act.

I want to audition as a group AND a solo, is that possible? Yes. Register each act using a different email address. Mention this at the venue so you receive the correct contestant stickers for both.

Not everyone from my group can make it. Is footage okay? Yes. If key members are missing, bring a video on your mobile device of your full group performing to show producers. Avoid USB drives and CDs.

Eligibility & Minor Guidelines

What are the eligibility requirements? You must be a U.S. citizen, legal permanent resident, or possess a valid EAD card. View full requirements HERE.

I am under 18; what do I need to bring? Minors must have parental permission and be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Bring a photo ID (school ID/birth certificate) and a signed Personal Release.

What if my parent/guardian cannot come with me? If attending with a third party, you must bring a notarized Guardianship and Medical Authorization form signed by your parent.

The Audition Day Experience

How early can I get to the Audition? Lines typically start at 7:00 AM. However, doors generally open at 8:00 AM and close at 6:00 PM (times may vary by venue).

How long will I be waiting? Expect a full day at the venue. You’ll receive a sticker number upon arrival, and auditions proceed in order. First come, first seen.

How long will I get for my audition? You have up to 90 seconds. Focus on the best and most exciting parts of your performance.

Will I find out if I make it to the next round immediately? No. Only those advancing will be notified, typically by the end of March.

Performance & Equipment

I am a singer, what should I expect? Singers perform a cappella. There are generally no microphones unless you are a beatboxer or playing piano. You may use a backing track only if you are also dancing or rapping.

I am a dancer, what is the floor like? Rooms are typically 15’x15’ to 21’x21’ with carpet or parquet flooring.

I am in a band, what will my audition be like? Acoustic setups only. No drum kits or full amplification. Bring a video to show producers your full stage sound.

I have a dangerous act (fire/rigging).

  • NO FIRE: No pyrotechnics or open flames.

  • NO WEAPONS: No actual or perceived weapons of any kind.

  • NO RIGGING: No overhead rigging or complex aerial installations

Logistics: What to Bring & Wear

What should I bring? Photo ID, your ticket and completed paperwork.

What should I NOT bring? No weapons, alcohol, illicit drugs, fireworks, or large coolers.

Can I bring family and friends? Yes, they are welcome in the holding area, but only performers (and guardians of minors) enter the audition room. Supporters must also sign a release.

What should I wear? Dress for TV! Wear bright colors and avoid logos. Arrive at the venue already in your audition wardrobe.
